A somewhat idiosyncratic list, shaped at various times by my tastes and my pockets. I should comment on one omission: I have never felt the least inclination to watch Ralph Bakshi's 1978 cartoon. I suppose I'm too close to the books, to me Lord of the Rings is NOT a cartoon.
